The Global Audit and Assurance function of an International
Business had a need to train Auditors in both the technical aspects of the function and the interpersonal aspects of the auditor's role.
Whilst all jobholders were well experienced in audit methodology, it was also important that the way in which they conducted themselves was in line with corporate expectations. The 'how' was as important as the 'what'
The expectations of the way this role was performed was:
to work with line managers.
to be an integral and valued member of the local team.
to be viewed as a supportive member of the team.
to avoid being viewed as a 'policing' function.
Auditors were expected to:
develop mutual respect and trust from those they worked with.
be capable at arriving at a win-win solution to problems.
influence well and achieve 'buy-in' to recommended solution
build and develop good working relationships with those they work with.
appreciate the possible consequences and impact of their actions on others.
A workshop was developed and facilitated to address the needs with the following content:

| Facilitation Skills | Identification of skills necessary and appropriate interventions | |
| Listening Skills | What is listening? How can it be improved? | |
